Meet the Team: Monique Gamez

Meet Monique Gamez, Eckman’s Newest Asst. Construction Estimator! Monique joined Eckman this past spring as an intern and will soon join our construction estimating team full-time in spring 2024 upon completion of her B.S. in Construction Management form Brigham Young- Idaho.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Monique’s character and skill join our top-notch estimators,” said Cooper Eckman, Managing Director/Owner of Eckman Construction. In addition to her B.S. in Construction Management, Monique will complete a minor in Business Management, from Brigham Young University – Idaho, as well. She also offers previous experience as real estate broker in her hometown, Monterey, Mexico—additional background that complements her estimating responsibilities. Monique is proficient and experienced with estimating technology and software that includes on screen take-offs, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Revit, and Navis Works.

When asked about what sparked her interest in construction as profession, Monique said, “At a very young age, my father, also a real estate broker in Monterey, would drive me through the city to observe all the new construction and explain to me the process. Whether it was modest or luxury single-family homes, commercial developments, or massive multi-family apartment complexes, I was fascinated by the construction process.”

With Eckman, Monique’s role to date has primarily included concrete quantity take offs for estimating concrete foundations and sitework. She has quickly established a positive, professional rapport with our subcontractors; and owners appreciate her ability to analyze and list considerations related to site conditions and construction scheduling to provide added-value and insight into the bids she prepares. Most recently, she has worked as part of our estimating team on two newly award contracts for Eckman: General RV Supercenter in South, Weber and the new Tooele Valley Mosquito Abatement District in Tooele, Utah.
