Gary Eckman has spent a lifetime building more than structures—he has helped shape Utah’s construction industry to what it is today. His career began at a young age, working alongside his father and on the concrete crew, learning the fundamentals of construction firsthand. Those early experiences instilled a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the trade.

Over the course of his career, Gary has served in nearly every role within the industry, progressing from Superintendent to Project Manager, President, and ultimately Owner and CEO of Eckman Construction. His hands-on experience and extensive knowledge have earned him a reputation as a respected builder, mentor, and industry leader.

Gary was among the first contractors in Utah to embrace concrete tilt-up construction, pioneering a building method that has since become a cornerstone of industrial and commercial development throughout the region. His forward-thinking approach and dedication to excellence have contributed to the successful completion of countless projects and helped position Eckman Construction as one of Utah’s most trusted builders.

Gary studied at the University of Utah and has led award-winning projects that have earned national recognition throughout his career. He is known by friends, clients, and industry partners for his integrity, attention to detail, and uncompromising standards. For Gary, quality is not a slogan, it is a responsibility reflected in every project he delivers.

One of Gary’s greatest accomplishments has been passing his knowledge, values, and passion for construction on to his son, Cooper. Much like how Gary learned the business working alongside his own father, Cooper grew up in the industry and now leads the company as President. Gary has always believed that leadership is best taught by example, and the successful transition to the next generation remains one of the proudest chapters in the company’s history.

Outside the office, Gary is an accomplished fly fisherman and six-time champion of the Jackson Hole One Fly Tournament. The patience, discipline, and persistence that have made him successful on the water are the same qualities that have defined his career in construction.
